There is something very special about black-and-white photographs. So emotive and timeless. It is always my first choice for display, prints and books and I thought why not do an entire black-and-white post?!
When doing a shoot with me you will get a variety of colour and monochromatic images, I just chose my favourite black-and-whites from this shoot to showcase.

Gustav’s parents have been clients of mine for a couple of years, I did his big sister’s shoot not toooo long ago. He made my year by arriving on New Years Day and I was so excited to meet him. And then his parents carried him into the studio…and I saw that hair! And he had me at hello! Welcome sweet little Gustav! come sweet little Gustav!

Meet Juan, the second newborn I did for this family, who also happens to be friends of mine. Always such a pleasure when the family is comfortable with the photographer, and vice versa. This is one of the reasons I advocate maternity shoots, as it gives everyone a chance to get to know each other before the newborn shoot, where we will be spending up to 3 hours in each others company

i always describe my style of photography as simplistic and minimalistic. i do enjoy using props and baskets with the tinies but my true love is simple, clean and natural shots like this one. even though every single image is edited by me, i try to focus on the natural beauty and innocence of newborns and try to not distract with funny effects, over-processing, frames and text. thats just me.

I traveled out to Bronkhorstspruit on the day of the naming ceremony for this little one. All the grandparents were present for the shoot and he played the perfect model.

I am forever on the lookout for interesting things to use as props in the studio, and found this little gem in a florist shop a couple of weeks ago. I could immediately see how I was going to use it! Problem is, it is really really small, and only my tiniest ones fit in it, but oh wow when they do…

as i am still desperately trying to catch up on work after my december break, i thought i’d post a little something from one of last years’ sessions. it’s the third picture of this particular little mushy i’m posting but she posed so perfectly for me i cant help it!
