We try to grab
pieces of our lives as they speed past us. Photographs freeze
those pieces and help us remember how we were.

(if 'how you were' is a bit tarnished by a stretch mark or five, don't fret. I know the feeling, and I have a magic wand that you will just love....)
Wardrobe guidelines:
These are guidelines only and are not set in stone. I try to
cater to every individual’s style and preference but most people
have not spent too many hours playing model and appreciate
some general guidelines. Please feel free to express yourself and
suggest any other ideas or dreams for your individual photo
session.
Maternity photographs:
The star of the show is that beautiful
belly of yours of course, and will feature in most
pictures. To show it off best, a shirt that buttons down and
spaghetti-string tops work well, and denims can be worn if you
are still comfortable in them. I use draping in the sessions,
and wardrobe will not have too much of an influence on these
pictures.
When it comes down to it, wear whatever is comfortable for you
keeping in mind it is usually best to stick to plain colours if possible, and try to avoid very bright colours
or bold patterns as this can sometimes be distracting on
pictures. If you prefer the black backdrop then avoid wearing
black as your belly won't be clearly visible. If using the white studio, avoind wearing white.
If you have any knitted shawls, pashima's, parkas, scarves or any
other interesting piece of clothing please bring those along for
a unique photograph.
Infant photography:
When it comes to the little cherubs, the best outfit is no outfit. There is nothing as cute as those chubby arms and legs, and if the weather permits the birthday suite and nappy is the outfit of choice. The studio is heated in winter for the little ones and cooled in summer. There is always an outfit or two that Mommy or baby simply love, so please bring these along, but keep it to 2 or 3 maximum, as most babies don’t take kindly to too many wardrobe changes. If there is a favourite toy or blanket you want included please bring those along as well.
Older babies:
Just about any outfit looks cute on the older baby, so you can go ahead and choose whatever you think represents baby the best. Again, no more than 2 to 3 outfits please, as babies can turn into little diva’s when fiddled with too much. Try to avoid outfits with a very prominent pattern, label or patch somewhere as we want the star of the picture to be the baby not the clothes. Of course if Granny insists on a picture of baby wearing the jersey with the bright red and green Santa on it she knitted, I shall oblige.
Toddlers and kids:
The same guidelines as for older babies apply but of course at this age , if it managed to stay clean until the photo shoot, we’ve hit the jackpot! I also have someprops and accessories to make your little superstar shine.
Mommy and Daddy:
For those planning family portraits it is always nice to coordinate the wardrobe somewhat. A good choice is usually the good ol’ denims and t-shirts if you are going for a relaxed, casual portrait. Plain shirts are best but again, its up to you as long as no one is dressed too bright or boldly and steals all the limelight. If using the white studio, avoid wearing plain white.
More formal portraits
can also be done in the Sunday best. For parents with small babies a
good suggestion would be to have an extra shirt handy, as those
badly timed accidents do happen with little ones.
