Newborn photography in Centurion, Pretoria & Johannesburg
The first two weeks go fast. Embarrassingly fast. One moment you’re watching a wrinkled little stranger sleep on your chest, and the next you’re Googling why they don’t sleep on your chest anymore. Newborn photos aren’t about props and posing. They’re about stopping time for just a moment, so you actually remember this.
I’m Jackie. I’ve been photographing newborns in Centurion, Pretoria and Johannesburg for over 17 years. My studio is warm, unhurried and stocked with everything your baby needs – wraps, baskets, neutral props, and a beanbag that has safely cradled more tiny humans than I can count. You bring the baby. I handle everything else.
When to do newborn photos
The sweet spot is days 6 to 14. Babies at this age are sleepy, curly and still have that brand-new look that disappears faster than you think. I photograph babies up to 6 weeks old as newborns, so there’s a bit of grace if your little one arrives early or spends time in hospital.
After 6 weeks, we shift to a family shoot instead – baby still gets their moment, just minus the wraps and tucked-up poses. Both are beautiful. Just different.
The best time to book is before baby arrives. I hold your spot by due date and we confirm the session once your baby is here. You don’t need to scramble for a booking while running on two hours of sleep. Read more about when to book your newborn session
What to expect at your session
Newborn sessions are slow by design. A typical session runs 2 to 3 hours – not because I’m inefficient, but because babies set the pace. We feed, we settle, we wait. Then we get the most beautiful images when baby is completely calm and comfortable.

A warm studio – I keep it warmer than you’d expect, because that’s what helps babies sleep deeply

My 17+ years of experience – I’ve soothed a lot of stubborn babies
You don’t need to prepare anything or bring anything special. The studio has everything. Come in comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting spit on, bring your baby’s favourite dummy if they have one, and feed just before you arrive if you can.

Newborn sessions start from R2500. Package options include digital files, prints and albums. Maternity + newborn bundles are also available at a combined rate.

Studio location
The studio is based in Centurion, Gauteng, easily accessible from Pretoria, Johannesburg, Midrand and the East Rand. On-location newborn sessions (at your home or outdoors) are also available on request.
